Terms of service, warranty & store policies
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical Terms of Service, Warranty & Store Policies
Effective Date: 15 September 2026
These Terms apply to services performed, goods supplied and products sold by DriveRight Mobile Mechanical.
By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, confirming a booking, authorising work, requesting that work commence or purchasing goods from us, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to review and agree to these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
1. Our Services
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical provides mobile mechanical servicing, repairs, diagnostics, inspections and related automotive services, together with the supply of parts, accessories, service kits and merchandise.
Services are performed using appropriate industry practices and suitable replacement parts unless otherwise agreed with the customer.
The scope of each job is limited to the work specifically requested, quoted or subsequently authorised.
Completion of a service, inspection or repair does not represent certification that the vehicle is free from all mechanical, electrical, structural or safety defects unless expressly stated in writing.
2. Quotes & Estimates
Quotations and estimates are prepared using the information reasonably available at the time, including information supplied by the customer.
Unless otherwise stated, quotations are valid for 28 days from the date of issue.
After this period, pricing may be reviewed due to changes including:
supplier pricing;
parts availability;
labour requirements;
vehicle condition;
travel requirements;
additional faults identified; or
other circumstances affecting the work.
A quotation may be revised where the condition of the vehicle or scope of work differs materially from what could reasonably have been identified when the quotation was prepared.
Acceptance of a quotation does not by itself guarantee parts availability or reserve an appointment unless the booking is separately confirmed by DriveRight Mobile Mechanical.
3. Booking Confirmation
An enquiry, quotation request or provisional appointment does not constitute a confirmed booking.
A booking is confirmed only when DriveRight Mobile Mechanical confirms the appointment and any required deposit or other booking requirement has been satisfied.
Appointment times remain subject to reasonable changes arising from delays, emergencies, weather, parts availability, previous jobs running beyond their anticipated duration or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where practicable, customers will be notified of significant delays or changes.
4. Deposits
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may require a deposit before:
confirming a booking;
ordering parts;
allocating substantial appointment time; or
commencing particular work.
The required deposit amount will be disclosed before payment.
Payment of a deposit may be treated as acceptance of the applicable quotation, booking and these Terms.
Deposits are applied toward the final amount payable for the relevant work.
Where a booking is cancelled or rescheduled, any amount retained from a deposit will be limited to amounts reasonably applicable under these Terms, including authorised parts already ordered, non-returnable supplier charges, reserved appointment time or other reasonable loss or costs incurred.
Nothing in this section limits any refund or other right available under the Australian Consumer Law.
5. Parts Ordered for a Job
Parts may be ordered specifically for a customer's vehicle following acceptance of a quotation or payment of a deposit.
Parts that are special-order, customised, electrical, opened, fitted, non-returnable or otherwise unable to be returned to the supplier may remain chargeable where the customer subsequently cancels the work, to the extent permitted by law.
Where a supplier accepts the return of a cancelled part, any genuine supplier restocking, freight or return fee may be passed on to the customer where reasonably incurred and previously disclosed where practicable.
6. Customer-Supplied Parts
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may, at its discretion, agree to install parts or components supplied by the customer.
We are not responsible for selecting or supplying those parts and do not provide a warranty over the quality, authenticity, condition, compatibility or durability of the part itself.
The customer is responsible for ensuring customer-supplied parts are correct and suitable for the intended vehicle and repair.
Additional labour, diagnostic time, call-out costs or repeat attendance resulting from an incorrect, incomplete, defective or incompatible customer-supplied part may be chargeable.
If a customer-supplied part is unsafe, unsuitable or cannot reasonably be installed correctly, DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may refuse to fit it.
Any warranty relating to the part itself should ordinarily be pursued with the supplier or manufacturer from whom it was purchased.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical remains responsible for its own workmanship and for any obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. Diagnostic Services
Diagnostic fees relate to technician time, testing procedures, knowledge, equipment and other resources used to investigate a reported concern.
Payment of a diagnostic fee does not guarantee that a fault will be conclusively identified or repaired within the initial diagnostic period.
Some faults, particularly intermittent, electrical, communication or complex faults, may require:
additional diagnostic time;
repeated testing;
dismantling;
road testing;
wiring or electrical testing;
component substitution;
further inspection; or
testing under specific operating conditions.
Diagnostic charges remain payable for diagnostic work reasonably performed even where a definitive fault cannot be identified during the allocated diagnostic period.
Where further chargeable diagnostic work is required, customer approval will be sought before proceeding wherever reasonably practicable.
A diagnostic recommendation is not, by itself, authority to carry out the recommended repair.
8. Additional Work & Repair Authorisation
Only work authorised by the customer will ordinarily be performed.
If additional faults, wear, damage or repair requirements become apparent after work begins, DriveRight Mobile Mechanical will advise the customer and obtain approval before carrying out additional chargeable repairs wherever reasonably practicable.
Approval may be provided verbally, electronically or in writing.
Approved additional parts, labour, diagnostics, consumables and associated charges will be added to the final invoice.
Where the customer cannot reasonably be contacted, we will ordinarily stop the affected repair until authorisation can be obtained.
However, where reasonable immediate action is necessary solely to prevent imminent additional damage, secure a dismantled vehicle or remove an immediate safety risk created during authorised work, we may take the minimum reasonable steps necessary to protect the vehicle or property. Any material additional repair will still require customer approval unless otherwise permitted by law.
9. Pre-Existing Damage, Wear & Deterioration
Vehicles may contain components that are:
worn;
corroded;
seized;
brittle;
fatigued;
damaged;
contaminated;
previously repaired;
incorrectly installed; or
otherwise deteriorated.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical will exercise reasonable care when carrying out work.
However, to the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for the failure or breakage of a component caused by its pre-existing deterioration or condition where reasonable diagnosis, dismantling, adjustment or repair procedures have been used.
If additional work or replacement parts become necessary because of a pre-existing condition, the customer will be advised and additional charges may apply following authorisation.
10. Vehicle Information & Undisclosed Faults
Customers should provide accurate information reasonably known to them regarding:
warning lights;
previous repairs;
modifications;
breakdown history;
fluid leaks;
unusual noises;
intermittent faults;
overheating;
accident damage; and
other relevant vehicle concerns.
The discovery of previously unknown faults, modifications, damage or deterioration may affect the cost, scope or completion time of the work.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical is not responsible for unrelated pre-existing faults merely because they become apparent during or following other work.
11. Safe Working Conditions
Because DriveRight Mobile Mechanical operates as a mobile service, a safe and reasonably suitable work area must be available.
Customers must provide reasonable access to the vehicle and, where practicable, a firm, stable and reasonably level working surface with sufficient clearance around the vehicle.
We may refuse, postpone or discontinue work where conditions present an unreasonable safety risk, including:
unsafe roadside locations;
unstable, soft or excessively sloped ground;
insufficient working clearance;
dangerous traffic conditions;
severe weather;
inadequate lighting where relevant;
aggressive or uncontrolled animals; or
other hazards affecting the technician, customer, vehicle or surrounding property.
Where attendance has already occurred, an applicable call-out, diagnostic or other reasonable attendance charge may remain payable.
12. Vehicle Access
The customer must ensure that reasonable access to the vehicle is available at the agreed appointment time.
This includes, where required:
access to keys;
access to locked vehicles or areas;
sufficient space to work safely;
permission to access the property; and
any information required to safely operate or inspect the vehicle.
Where reasonable access is unavailable and the job cannot proceed, the appointment may be treated as a late cancellation or no-show.
13. Vehicle Movement & Road Testing
By authorising service, diagnostic or repair work, the customer authorises DriveRight Mobile Mechanical to start, move and road test the vehicle where reasonably necessary to:
diagnose a concern;
carry out the requested work;
confirm a fault;
verify repair operation; or
check the safety or effectiveness of completed work.
Road testing will only be carried out where reasonably required and where the vehicle is considered sufficiently safe and legally suitable to operate.
We may decline to road test a vehicle considered unsafe.
14. Call-Out Fees
Call-out fees may apply in addition to labour, diagnostics, parts, environmental charges and other applicable costs.
The applicable call-out fee will be advised before the booking is confirmed where reasonably practicable.
Unless a quotation expressly states otherwise, the customer should not assume that a call-out fee has been included in another advertised or quoted price.
Promotional call-out discounts or waivers are subject to the conditions, locations and validity periods of the relevant promotion.
15. Labour & Repair Charges
Labour is charged at the rate applicable to the type of work being performed unless a fixed-price service or repair has been agreed.
A minimum labour or diagnostic charge may apply where disclosed prior to the work.
Repair labour and diagnostic labour may be charged at different rates.
Quoted labour may change where additional authorised work is required or where unforeseen vehicle conditions materially increase the work required.
16. Environmental & Consumables Charges
An environmental or consumables charge may apply to certain services and repairs.
This contributes toward costs associated with materials and responsible handling, recycling or disposal of items including:
used oils;
filters;
fluids;
contaminated materials;
cleaning materials;
workshop consumables; and
other waste generated during servicing and repairs.
Any applicable charge will be disclosed on the quotation, job documentation or invoice.
17. Payment
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due upon completion of the work or in accordance with the due date stated on the invoice.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may require payment before releasing supplied goods or completing further work.
Products purchased through our online store must be paid for in accordance with the checkout terms applicable to the order.
Where legally permitted, title to goods separately supplied by DriveRight Mobile Mechanical remains with us until the relevant purchase price has been paid in full.
18. Card Payments
Until 30 September 2026, a card payment surcharge may be applied where permitted by applicable payment rules and Australian law. Any surcharge will be disclosed before payment and will not exceed the permitted cost of acceptance.
From 1 October 2026, DriveRight Mobile Mechanical will not impose a surcharge on eftpos, Mastercard or Visa card payments where such surcharging is prohibited under the applicable payment rules or law.
This clause will always be interpreted subject to the payment rules and laws in force at the time payment is made.
19. Cancellation & Rescheduling
Appointment times are specifically reserved for each customer.
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is requested when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.
Where less than 24 hours' notice is provided, DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may charge a cancellation fee of up to one hour of the applicable standard labour rate, having regard to the reserved appointment time and reasonable loss or costs caused by the cancellation.
Same-day cancellations and no-shows may be subject to the same charge.
Where a deposit or prepayment has been made, an applicable cancellation amount and any otherwise properly chargeable non-returnable parts or supplier costs may be deducted before the remaining refundable balance is returned.
A customer who fails to provide reasonable access to the vehicle at the agreed appointment time may be treated as a no-show.
We recognise that genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances occur and may waive or reduce a cancellation fee where appropriate.
Nothing in this policy restricts any cancellation or refund right arising under the Australian Consumer Law.
20. Cancellation or Delay by DriveRight Mobile Mechanical
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may reasonably cancel, postpone or reschedule a booking due to circumstances including:
technician illness or emergency;
unsafe weather;
vehicle or equipment failure;
delays at an earlier job;
unavailable parts;
supplier delays; or
circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where we cancel a prepaid service and cannot provide a suitable alternative, any amount paid for services not provided will be refunded.
21. Parts Warranty
New parts supplied by DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may carry warranties provided by the manufacturer or supplier.
Warranty assessment may require the part to be inspected, tested or returned to the relevant supplier or manufacturer.
Warranty coverage does not ordinarily extend to failure caused by:
misuse;
impact or accident damage;
incorrect use;
modification;
external contamination;
failure of another unrelated component; or
installation or interference by another party.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
22. Workmanship Warranty
In addition to rights provided by law, DriveRight Mobile Mechanical provides a 12-month or 20,000-kilometre workmanship warranty, whichever occurs first, on work performed by us.
This additional warranty applies to faults directly resulting from our workmanship.
It does not cover a problem merely because it occurs after work has been performed where that problem is caused by an unrelated component, ordinary wear, pre-existing deterioration, customer misuse, unauthorised modification or another cause unrelated to our workmanship.
Customers should contact DriveRight Mobile Mechanical as soon as reasonably practicable after becoming aware of a potential workmanship issue and provide us with a reasonable opportunity to inspect the concern.
Nothing in this warranty limits any statutory consumer guarantee or remedy.
23. Warranty Assessment & Rectification
Where a customer believes a fault relates to work performed or goods supplied by DriveRight Mobile Mechanical, the customer should contact us before arranging repairs elsewhere where reasonably practicable.
We must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and assess the alleged fault.
This requirement does not prevent a customer from taking reasonable emergency action where necessary to prevent injury, serious vehicle damage or another immediate risk.
Where the problem is confirmed to result from our workmanship or another matter for which we are responsible, remedies will be provided in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law and any applicable additional warranty.
Unrelated diagnostic or repair work may remain chargeable.
24. Pre-Purchase Inspections
A pre-purchase inspection reports on the vehicle's reasonably observable condition at the time and within the scope of the inspection purchased.
A pre-purchase inspection is not a guarantee that the vehicle is free from defects and does not guarantee future reliability, service life or mechanical condition.
Some faults may not be identified where they:
are intermittent;
are not present during the inspection;
require dismantling outside the agreed scope;
are concealed;
require specialist equipment outside the inspection scope; or
develop after the inspection.
The inspection is intended to assist a purchaser in making an informed decision and is not a substitute for any statutory inspection, roadworthy certificate or specialist inspection unless expressly stated.
25. Logbook & Scheduled Servicing
Where a customer requests a logbook or manufacturer-scheduled service, work will be based on the applicable service information reasonably available for the vehicle and the service interval requested.
The customer is responsible for accurately advising the vehicle's current odometer reading and, where relevant, previous servicing history.
Items identified as requiring additional repair or replacement beyond the agreed service will be quoted or discussed separately.
A scheduled service does not guarantee that every existing vehicle defect will be identified.
26. Unsafe Vehicles
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may advise that a vehicle or component is unsafe or unsuitable to continue operating.
Where a significant safety concern is identified, we may recommend that the vehicle not be driven until repairs are completed.
If a customer declines recommended repairs, that decision does not transfer responsibility to DriveRight Mobile Mechanical for faults that we did not cause.
We will not knowingly perform work that we reasonably believe would make a vehicle unsafe or would require us to act unlawfully.
27. Personal Property
Customers should remove or secure valuables and personal property before work begins.
To the extent permitted by law, DriveRight Mobile Mechanical is not responsible for loss of or damage to unsecured personal property left in or around the vehicle unless caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care.
28. Photographs, Video & Service Records
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may photograph or record vehicles, components, measurements, faults and repair work for legitimate business purposes including:
documenting vehicle condition;
recording diagnostic findings;
obtaining customer approval;
maintaining service records;
supplier or warranty claims;
quality control; and
resolving disputes.
Customer identifying information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
Photographs or recordings in which the customer or vehicle can reasonably be identified will not be used for advertising or promotional purposes without appropriate permission.
29. Parts Availability & Supplier Delays
All parts remain subject to supplier and manufacturer availability.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical is not responsible for delays outside our reasonable control, including:
supplier backorders;
discontinued parts;
freight delays;
incorrect supplier deliveries;
manufacturer delays; or
unexpected stock shortages.
Where a significant supplier price increase occurs before a part has been ordered, the customer will be advised before proceeding wherever reasonably practicable.
30. Online Store Orders
Online store orders are subject to availability and acceptance.
Prices are displayed in Australian dollars unless otherwise stated.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may cancel and refund an order where reasonably necessary due to circumstances such as:
unavailable stock;
an obvious pricing or listing error;
inability to obtain the product;
suspected fraudulent activity; or
an incorrect or incomplete vehicle application supplied by the purchaser.
Where an order is cancelled by us, amounts paid for goods that will not be supplied will be refunded.
31. Vehicle Service Kits & Vehicle-Specific Products
Where a product is selected using vehicle information supplied by the customer, the customer must provide accurate vehicle information, including registration, VIN, model, engine or other details where requested.
Incorrect vehicle information may result in incompatible parts being supplied.
Where DriveRight Mobile Mechanical makes an error in identifying or supplying a product, applicable consumer rights remain unaffected.
32. Shipping & Delivery
Where products are shipped, dispatch and delivery timeframes are estimates unless expressly guaranteed.
Delivery may be affected by freight carriers, weather, public holidays, supplier delays and circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Customers must provide an accurate delivery address.
Risk in goods passes in accordance with applicable law and the delivery arrangements used for the order.
33. Returns, Refunds & Change of Mind
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical is not required to provide a refund or exchange solely because a customer changes their mind, unless a specific change-of-mind policy is offered for that product.
Where goods or services fail to comply with the Australian Consumer Law, customers retain all applicable rights to repair, replacement, refund, cancellation, compensation or other remedies.
A product may need to be inspected or assessed before the appropriate remedy can be determined.
Customers should contact us as soon as reasonably practicable where they believe a supplied product is faulty, damaged or incorrect.
34. Overdue Accounts
Invoices must be paid by the stated due date.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may decline further work or future bookings while an account remains overdue.
Where permitted by law, reasonable costs genuinely incurred in recovering an overdue debt may be recoverable from the customer where those costs arise from the customer's failure to pay an amount properly due.
Any late payment fee will only be applied where it has been properly disclosed and is legally enforceable.
35. Authority to Request Work
The person requesting or authorising work represents that they are either:
the vehicle owner; or
authorised by the vehicle owner to request the relevant work and incur the associated charges.
Where a booking is made for another person, company, fleet operator or vehicle owner, the person making the booking must ensure they have sufficient authority to do so.
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may reasonably rely on that authority unless advised otherwise.
36. Liability for Matters Outside Our Control
To the extent permitted by law, DriveRight Mobile Mechanical is not responsible for loss or damage caused by matters outside our reasonable control or unrelated to our breach, negligence or failure to comply with applicable consumer guarantees.
This may include loss resulting solely from:
unrelated vehicle faults;
pre-existing damage;
incorrect customer information;
misuse of the vehicle;
unauthorised modification;
failure of customer-supplied parts; or
acts or omissions of unrelated third parties.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
37. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing contained in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify those guarantees or any remedy available to a customer where doing so would be unlawful.
Where these Terms conflict with a non-excludable right under applicable law, that legal right prevails.
38. Privacy
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may collect information reasonably required to:
provide services;
prepare quotations;
communicate with customers;
process payments;
maintain service records;
manage warranties;
process online purchases; and
satisfy legal obligations.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
Payment information may be processed through third-party payment providers and is subject to their applicable systems and security processes.
39. Website Content
Unless otherwise stated, website text, branding, photographs, graphics and other original content belong to DriveRight Mobile Mechanical or are used with appropriate permission.
Content must not be reproduced commercially without permission except where permitted by law.
40. Changes to These Terms
DriveRight Mobile Mechanical may update these Terms from time to time.
Changes apply prospectively to bookings, purchases or agreements entered into after the revised Terms take effect unless the parties separately agree otherwise or applicable law requires a different result.
The version applying to an existing confirmed booking will ordinarily be the version in effect when that booking was confirmed.
41. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in Victoria, Australia.
Nothing in this clause restricts a customer's rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that applies regardless of contractual choice of law.
42. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be read down or severed to the extent necessary, while the remaining provisions continue to operate where legally possible.
43. Acceptance of Terms
By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, confirming a booking, authorising work, purchasing goods or otherwise instructing DriveRight Mobile Mechanical to proceed, the customer acknowledges that they have been given reasonable access to these Terms and agree to be bound by them to the extent permitted by law.
